The holidays are over and we hope all of you are happy, rested, and ready to get back to work. We’d like to thank everyone who participated in our Make the Holidays Bright initiative, in which we asked visitors to the GeoData Plus site, Facebook page, and Twitter feed to help us decide where to direct a donation we’d put aside for a worthwhile non-profit organization. Over 1,000 of you voted to support one of five organizations located in the metropolitan New York area.
Of the five organizations, the New York City Habitat for Humanity received the most votes from the GeoData Plus community, an unsurprising result considering the connection to the real estate industry. The Long Island State Veterans Home at Stony Brook University was a close second. Those two organizations will receive a percentage of our donation based on the votes, with the remaining funds being divided fairly evenly among the other well-deserving agencies, who all also received a significant amount of votes: Goodwill of NY/NJ, Bideawee, and the Long Island Crisis Center.
We’re glad we could usher in 2014 on such a positive note. GeoData has a lot in store for the new year — stay tuned to our blog and our social media channels for announcements on improvements to our existing services as well as new initiatives through the coming months.
